When I was pregnant with Dubs, I received so much unsolicited advice. Everyone had some sage tip for me to be a better mother or wife or dresser. Some of it was insulting. Some, hilarious. Some very applicable. But the best was this:
Who are you doing it for? “It” being subjective. “It” can be work, play, knitting, etc. This is a much better question then “Why,” because why can lead to a selfish answer. “Who” forces you to be selfless and reflective.
For me the answer is simple. I do it for me, my husband, my friends, and family. The answer is never my boss.
Good advice is hard to come by, but this is advice I won’t soon forget.
